Influence of moisture content on NO2 sorption ability of cedar wood

Abstract This study examined the influence of moisture content (MC) on NO 2 sorption ability cedar ( Cryptomeria japonica ) wood using specimens with different MCs. Four MC conditions were applied, namely 0%, 8.6%, 12.7% and 16.5%, based differences bonding condition water molecule in substances. As a result, volume increased drastically due to presence water, as increased, slightly. The generation nitric acid concentration evaluated after an aeration test, it was strongly indicated that reacted specimen, multilayer adsorbed increased. seemed be formed by reaction between then held specimen. Based calculated volume, shown 12-h caused mainly water. Furthermore, both extractives contributed initial period, greatly over long term.
